I'd heard all of these before (and agreed and loved them), except the one about turning our homes back into mere houses when guests are expected. SO true.
ReplyDeleteI definitely used to have a lot of trouble with that. Now, thanks in part to FlyLady and in part to the ROH True Woman study last summer, I try to keep my focus on blessing my guests rather than impressing them. It's still a work in progress, but I'm a whole lot less stressed about people coming over than I used to be!! (and as a result, it happens more often, too!)
Phyllis Diller used to say she had a stash of "Get Well" cards that she pulled out and placed on the mantle when unexpected guests arrived and her house was a mess! That way it would at least LOOK as if she had a good excuse! Much better to not let it go that far!
